Stripes Season !

Stripes will never go out of fashion.They can be played safe or... let loose they an rock any room! We can add splashes of stripey colour to upholstery , walls, splash backs, curtains, blinds...anything goes.Vertical Stripes on walls can work magic to give height in low ceiling rooms, where horizontal stripes will cosy up the space . Add a bold stripe to a headboard to instantly lift a neutral toned bedroom. Paint the floorboards in the kids room a rainbow of colours and jazz up old furniture by painting the drawers in different shades. Stripes are not going anywhere so embrace them!

Cosy Cosy!!!

This year more than ever people will agree that staying in the new going out, thus the return of cosy textiles, Chesterfield wing back chairs, thick luxurious carpets all creating a serene and comfortable living environment.I know its already March but the chill is still in the air!

Away with the birds!

There is something about an image of a bird in flight that calms the mind and makes us think of new beginnings. Many of the design houses have taken inspiration from this with their new collections. Manual Canovas has just launched a new wallpaper range featuring migrating birds in colours like gleaming pewter and soft blue. It is a graceful and beautiful design that would make for a soothing elegant addition to a room.

Recycle & Refresh!!

Let's save some money and re-use what you already have! Simple changes can go along way. For example revamp tired armchairs with a fresh brushed cotton like this buttoned armchair in Tennessee from Casamance or use a funky wallpaper to recover an old tired chest of drawers or wardrobe. Victorians used this method to decorate screens and furniture, and it's a perfect way to use left over wallpaper or try out a new one.Just make sure you prepare the surface first rolling on some PVA glue. When dry, paste on the paper and, after a couple of days, varnish with a matt glaze. The transformation will be fantastic!

Every few days we will be adding one of our top ten trend predictions for 2010.

Here's number 1!......

Yell for YELLOW!!

Throughout the halls of Maison D'Object, yellow jumps out at us from all angles and this is Pantones colour prediction of Spring 2010.The tone being reminiscent of the first glimpse of sunlight on a dawn horizon, a shimmering slightly greenish acidic yellow, which compliments deep navy's and jewel like plums. Designers Guilds new collection for Spring adds this sprightly colour to their architectural motif prints and we see Dedar use it in bold watercolour splashes.

I've just discovered ted.com - and have spent the last hour glued to my laptop. I've just listened to two great lectures - one by Philippe Starck and the other by Ray & Charles Eames grandson (Eames Demetrios) both talking about Design. Am looking forward to hearing some more fantastic talks

Does anyone out there recognise either of the below fabrics - the jacket on Queen Sophia and the fabric on the chair. Have clients looking for both of them and can't for the life of me find where they are from?!?!

For 2010 Kevin Kelly Interiors are offering an exciting new Online Consultation provided by Julianne Kelly and Sarah Proctor, two of the companies leading Interior Designers. The service will enable you to liaise with experienced interior designers from the comfort of your own home!

The Online Consultation service aims to understand your needs and requirements on how you wish to transform your room. How the Online Consultation works is simple. The customer emails pictures of the room they wish to transform, along with room measurements and as much information about the room as possible, i.e what it is used for, who uses it, why you want it redesigned etc. Any important requests should also be outlined, along with an indication of the style you want achieved, and if you wish, an approximate budget.

In response to this information Julianne and Sarah will compile sample boards based upon your requirements and preferences, giving professional recommendations with regards to colours, paints, wallpapers, flooring, furniture, soft furnishings, and window dressings. With this professional guidance, you can begin to envision the transformation you wish to achieve.
